Elder Scrolls Online – The Next Expansion Teased at The Game Awards! Spoilers!

Elder Scrolls Online gave us a hint about the location of the next expansion. It all happened during The Game Awards 2019. We knew for a while that the final The Season of the Dragon trailer will be released at the ceremony but we weren't expecting anything about the next expansion. Let's discuss the trailer a bit. Be warned that spoilers will follow. If you haven't watched the trailer already then maybe it's best that you watch it first and read later. The trailer shows Abnur Tharn, Sai Sahan, Khamira, and an adventurer as they head towards the final fight. The adversary is none other than the mighty dragon Kaalgrontiid. The adventurers seem to have things under control for a while but victory is not achieved without sacrifices. Most of them manage to escape through a portal but one of them stays behind to make sure that not everything is lost. Hint: it's not Sai Sahan or one of the adventurers. It's a powerful battlemage that has been in the Elder Scrolls Online story since the beginning. Even though we don't see him dying, hope is frail. Nothing looks like it could survive that explosion. However, this is a fantasy game so anything can happen.
We don't get much time to mourn the probable death of Clivia's father because the next sequence hit us unexpected. We see a Nord adventurer looking over an immense land covered in snow as a very familiar tune takes us back to 2011. The words “Explore the Dark Heart of Skyrim” appear at the end of the trailer. A few weeks ago, Bethesda announced that the next ESO chapter will be unveiled in Las Vegas on January 16th, 2020. It looks like they've decided to show us a little teaser. The global reveal event will unveil details about the expansion. It will most likely take place in Skyrim but we aren't sure about the name. A part of the province is already in Elder Scrolls Online but now we will be taken into its “dark heart”, whatever that is. Players are looking forward to revisiting iconic Skyrim locations and to explore the new areas. With more than 30 million sold copies, Skyrim was the most successful and popular TES installment.
ESO expansions took us to beloved places like Morrowind, Elsweyr, and Summerset and now we get to explore Skyrim too. The developers did a great job with the expansions so far and we are confident that the next chapter will be no less exciting.
