Elder Scrolls Online Update 30 Introduces a New Tutorial

Many have changed in Elder Scrolls Online since its 2014 release. We have a new expansion, new content, new classes, and new stories. It's only natural that the starting experience to change as well. Come Update 30, ESO players will experience a new introduction to the game. Each expansion has a different tutorial. When players create new characters, the starting zone and quests depend on the newest expansion owned by the player. Update 30 uniforms the starting experience giving all new characters the same tutorial. The Isle of Balfiera is the new starting zone where all newly created characters begin their adventures. The island is located in the Iliac Bay. If you are one of the TES veterans, you might remember this zone from TES II: Daggerfall. The zone has not been explored since then. This area is home to Direnni ruins. The mage Norianwe traveled here to investigate the appearance of portals and monsters brought by them. The tasks and quests will serve as a tutorial and an introduction to the game. After players complete the tutorial, they gain access to a portal room that brings them into the game world. This is where players pursue different paths depending on which expansions they have. Players that have multiple expansions can choose any of the starting zones pertaining to the owned expansions. Those who have the base game will be able to choose one of the three Alliance zones. The mage you meet on the starting island acts as a guide. You can ask this NPC about the starting zones so you have more details before entering a portal. It's important to mention that the Isle of Balfiera is restricted to new characters. Players can never return to this island once they go through the portal. If you want to revisit the island, you will have to create a new character. The initial game tutorial is now included in the main story. Players can always use the zone guide tool to find out more about an area. Update 30 comes with the Blackwood expansion, a new ESO chapter that brings more content to the game.
