CS:GO Players Starting to Get Irked By Lack of Game Updates
2024-01-23 11:45

September 2023. Almost without warning, Valve dropped the largest update to CS:GO yet. CS:GO 2 was launched. Despite some rather unpopular changes, such as the removal of certain maps, game modes, and achievements, many people loved the new look CS:GO, and Valve committed to releasing more updates as time went on. However, we’re now in the middle of January, and we’ve had scant updates since. In fact, there have been so few updates that players on Reddit are starting to get irked.

Over the last month, more and more posts have started to appear on the CS:GO subreddit complaining that Valve is literally doing nothing other than collecting a pay check. While there have been some balance changes, and a few updates to glitches on the maps, there’s been nothing otherwise. No new maps. No new crates to open. No roadmap. Despite this, CS:GO remains one of the most-played games on Steam.

Are Players Justified in their Anger?

There’s some debate across social media as to whether players should be concerned about the lack of updates to CS:GO 2.

Some players are of the opinion that Valve have started to coast on the game. It is evident that Valve is making a lot of money from CS:GO 2, and the player base doesn’t seem to be dwindling. This means that there isn’t a huge rush to get content out the door. People believe this is wrong, and after tons of content was removed from the original game, people are itching to play something fresh.

Others believe that Valve won’t be releasing new major updates to the game until after The Majors have finished, which will be a few months yet (we’re still in qualifying rounds), because the game needs to be in a fairly stable place for The Majors, and releasing huge updates to the game right now could ruin that.

Our opinion? Well, Valve could at least give us a map or two, or perhaps restore some of the missing achievements. This should give players something to do, while not necessarily messing up the meta of the game (if those new maps are kept out of the tournaments). At the very least, Valve should give some sort of road map that indicates when major updates should be expected.

When We Can Expect Further Updates for CS:GO

It’ll likely be a few months before we start to see some big updates to the game. As soon as The Majors finish, the CS:GO team at Valve will likely release some sort of roadmap, or at least we hope so.

For now, we recommend you look into CSGO prime accounts for sale and pick up a new account so you can quickly rise up the CS:GO ranks in anticipation of major future updates to the game.
